Research

Palladium is committed to providing its clients with a continuous flow of updated offerings and services.

Research is a long-standing competency at Palladium and its predecessor firm Balanced Scorecard Collaborative. Our Research service capabilities are incorporated as part of our service development process as well as performed in custom engagements for our clients. Our Research is, and has always been, a core mechanism for generating new strategy, finance, and IT concepts and bringing them to market. Likewise, it provides vehicles to enhance our education and training services. Research takes several forms at Palladium including:

Action Learning Communities- Member organizations work together to co-develop and test new management frameworks. Palladium provides thought leadership and subject matter experts and practitioners provide expertise based on field experience. Past Action Learning Communities have been convened on topics such as: Human Capital Management, Office of Strategy Management, eStrategy Balanced Scorecard, and others.

Current Action Learning Communities are Linking Strategy and Operations, which will have its first meeting in Boston in June.

Assessments- Assessments are used to develop performance profiles of organizations. These Assessments are used to close gaps in organizational competencies and, thus, to achieve the promise of the strategy. We have developed several Assessments in an effort to gather data that will ultimately benefit stakeholders across multiple functions within our client's organization: The Strategy-Focused Organization Assessment has been in use for over five years and is now being enhanced by the introduction of the Strategy-Execution Benchmark. Office of Strategy Management assessments are used to understand best practices in strategy management. Human Capital Readiness assessments are used to identify gaps in organizational competencies needed to implement the strategy.

Best Practices in Strategy Execution- Palladium has established the world's largest library on the topic of strategy management. A significant section of this library consists of best practices based on examples derived from Hall of Fame organizations. The Best Practices resource continues to grow with the addition of each new member organization.

Custom Studies- Palladium research resources are available to partner with other organizations in the pursuit of new knowledge around specialized topics of interest under the general banner of strategy management. We have conducted studies on a variety of topics including: Aligning IT with Strategy, Aligning HR with Strategy, Making Strategy Execution a Competitive Advantage, The Technology Maturity Model, and others.

Client Engagement Interventions- Client engagements are where theory becomes real. New innovations in strategy management that go beyond current best practice occur on a regular basis in field engagements. Our ability to capture these experiences, document them, and leverage the new knowledge is where the living laboratory of strategy execution can also provide valuable research evidence.

BSC Hall of Fame for Executing Strategy- With over 90 member organizations from around the world, this community of practice constitutes a valuable resource for identifying next generation best practices and for identifying next generation challenges that other organizations will someday face as they continue to evolve their competencies to successfully manage strategy on a continual basis. Our continuing relationship with these organizations provides a unique and world-class source of new ideas, insights, and research site to enable our ongoing pursuit of knowledge and expertise.

Surveys- Our online membership constitutes the world's largest opt-in community of interest on the topic of strategy management. We are able to leverage the collective experience resident within this community through periodic survey research that taps into current practices, challenges, and interests of people and organizations around the world who are embarked on the journey toward strategic success.

Partner Programs- Over the years, we have successfully partnered with different organizations to: share knowledge, create new intellectual property, advance the state of the art, test new technologies, publish, and reach new audiences. We would be happy to discuss the possibility of partnering with you to consider ways we might work together to advance the frontier of knowledge and expertise to help organizations around the world be more successful in achieving their respective missions.
