DFAS is the largest finance and accounting operations in the world with a mission to provide responsive, professional finance and accounting services to the war fighter. In 2004 it disbursed more than $455B. DFAS adopted the BSC in 2001 to help implement major strategic change. The BSC transformed DFAS's vision and strategy into a meaningful set of performance measures. Both a management and diagnostic tool, the BSC measures DFAS performance at multiple levels and helps assess its health and demonstrate progress on key initiatives. The BSC is truly DFAS's best weapon in the battle against inefficiency while supporting our troops.
