Robert E. Smyth
Palladium Fellow
Robert E. Smyth advises the firm and its clients on senior executive management issues. He is the former president and CEO of Citizens Bank of Massachusetts—at $28 billion the state’s second largest commercial bank—and brings more than 30 years of banking experience to his current position. Prior to his promotion to president and CEO in 2004, Smyth was executive vice president of Commercial Banking at Citizens, responsible for managing a staff of approximately 300 employees and a portfolio of more than $10 billion. Smyth was previously northeast regional vice chairman at Key Bank—a Palladium Balanced Scorecard Hall of Fame for Executing Strategy® winner. He also served as a senior vice president of Bankers Trust Company in New York where he worked for 22 years. Smyth’s board seats include Associated Industries of Massachusetts, the Boston Municipal Research Bureau, Northeastern University, and Children’s Hospital Boston where he is a member of the Finance Committee and the Audit & Compliance Committee. He holds an undergraduate degree from St. Mary’s College and an MBA in management and finance from Adelphi University. |
