Palladium's approach brings together like professionals to solve problems of common interest.
The Challenge
Experience has shown that executing strategy requires change in operational processes. Also, organizations get better results if they link their operational improvement programs to their strategies. It turns out that both strategy management and operations management consist of many specialized techniques and frameworks. However, operations management and strategy management have lacked a common platform and framework with which to create linkage between these two management systems. The challenge is to develop such a framework to achieve this linkage.
The Opportunity
The “Working Group” approach provides a vehicle to bring together professionals of common backgrounds from different organizations to work on problems of mutual interest. We have used the Working Group approach over the past four years to solve two major problems: How to sustain effective strategy execution? and, How to build a double-loop management system? We desire to use the Working Group format to encompass a new set of issues including:
- Explain and define the critical linkages between strategy and operational performance, and
- Define the role of the management (theme) team in partnering, designing, implementing, and managing these linkages.
Deliverables
Each module will include: a workbook, case examples, selected best practices, and a prototype integrated model that members can use to customize their own solution. Community members will also have access to a portal that provides: knowledge repository, inquiry support, and member profiles.
Membership Requirements
Members will agree to: collaborate freely, share experiences, and be willing to test proposed solutions. An atmosphere of mutual trust and confidentiality will be encouraged.
