Skills Building Workshops

Friday, November 13th | 9:00am-4:30pm

Workshop A: Selecting the Right Measures to Drive Strategic and Operational Performance

Mario A. Bognanno, Vice President, Palladium Group, Inc.

Selecting the right measures is critical in any management system as it enables a multitude of outcomes…”What gets measured gets done.” Studies show that measurement information is still largely financially oriented and organizations have difficulty harvesting insight from their performance

measurement information. As a result, some are literally “drowning” in data and are not appreciably

better off than they were decades ago. This application workshop will review the various kinds of

measures, the inherent differences between a scorecard and a dashboard, and the selection criteria for

each tool moving from an organization’s strategic objective to the specific day to day metrics that drive performance. Participants will benefit from best practice measurement techniques for turning

data—measures and metrics—into higher business performance through illustrations, directed

discussions, and interactive case exercises for a unique learning opportunity!

Key Issues

  • Identifying and selecting the right measures every manager needs to know
  • Using the power of measurement in strategic performance management
  • Linking strategic measures to operational (driver) measures
  • Defining the difference between “scorecard” and “dashboard”
  • Fitting into an overall performance management system
