Clinic A: Mobilizing for Finance Transformation
Paul Pedersen, Director and Mark Lorence, Director, Palladium Group, Inc.
In today's environment companies are looking for ways to cut costs, improve efficiencies, and position their organizations to weather the storm until the economy improves. Some are taking a 'wait-and-see' approach, curtailing all non-essential initiatives and focusing on survival. Others are using this period as an opportunity to refine their strategies and drive top-line growth. One approach is to study support organizations—Finance, HR, IT—and look for ways to achieve costs savings and process efficiencies. The transformation of these organizations can yield huge benefits, but like any large project must be carefully planned and managed. In this clinic we will present a framework for planning a Finance Transformation project. Drawing upon our experience in helping clients through this journey, we will focus on the traditional areas for improvement—people, process, and technology—as well as explaining how a Finance Transformation project can be embedded in the context of a larger strategy management process.
