Palladium announces partnership with Harvard Professor George Serafeim

Professor Serafeim will work in collaboration with Palladium’s in-house thought leadership team.

We are pleased to announce a thought leadership partnership with Professor George Serafeim, the Jakurski Family Associate Professor of Business Administration at Harvard Business School.

Professor Serafeim will work in collaboration with Palladium’s in-house thought leadership team to evolve our transformative approach to business growth and social change – what we call Positive Impact. Positive Impact, which will be introduced at Palladium’s Global Summit in March, enables organisations to achieve real, enduring economic and social value, and has been developed in collaboration with professors Robert Kaplan and David Norton, creators of the “Balanced scorecard”.

Palladium’s new partnership with Serafeim comes at a time when we are bringing together public and private sector leaders and executives to develop a new method of building, executing and measuring Positive Impact. Serafeim will particularly focus on investment capital for scalable Positive Impact solutions, and measurement methods.

Professor George Serafeim said, “We currently face massive challenges in achieving the goals and targets set by international accords like the UN Millennium Declaration. I have long-admired the work that Palladium does for the most deprived communities around the world and am looking forward to helping the company deliver economic and social value while positioning them as a thought leader in the Impact Economy.”

Kim Bredhauer, Palladium’s CEO, added, “It is fantastic to have such a renowned academic on board working with our thought leadership team. We face a significant intellectual and pragmatic challenge to improve development and deliver enduring economic and social change. Having such high caliber supporters of Positive Impact further validates the concept and bolsters its notable success in these early stages of implementation.”

A global thought leader
Professor Serafeim has extensive experience as a senior adviser and board member in both the non-profit and private sectors. He is a co-founder of KKS Advisors and a senior advisor to Calvert Research and Management. He serves on the board of directors of the High Meadows Institute, the advisory boards of Terra Alpha and Arabesque Partners, the working group of the Coalition for Inclusive Capitalism and the Technical Review Committee of the Global Initiative for Sustainability Ratings. He was also a member of the Standards Council of the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board.

Professor Serafeim’s research focuses on corporate valuation, governance, and reporting issues. He currently teaches courses in the Harvard MBA and doctoral programs and serves on several boards in both the private and non-profit sectors. He has written more than 100 articles and business cases and presented his research at more than 100 conferences and seminars worldwide.

Serafeim’s research is regularly cited in the media, including The New York Times, Bloomberg, Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal, Economist, The Guardian, BBC, Le Monde, El País, Corriere della Sera, and Washington Post.
He holds a master's degree in accounting and finance from the London School of Economics and Political Science, where he was awarded the Emeritus Professors' Prize for best academic performance, and a doctorate in business administration at Harvard Business School, where his dissertation was recognized with the Wyss Award for Excellence in Doctoral Research.
