Sustainable Land Use Planning - Papua New Guinea

The United States Agency for International Development's USD 16M Papua New Guinea Sustainable Landscapes (PNGSL) program, implemented by Palladium, aims to improve forest governance, increase the environmental sustainability of the forestry and AFOLU industries, and protect the land and resource rights of local communities in order to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, enhance carbon sequestration, and increase the sustainability of natural resource management (NRM).

Palladium is seeking local organisations to lead local communities through participatory sustainable land use planning processes in high-carbon areas of Papua New Guinea, as a part of our effort to support bottom-up planning processes that protect the country's natural landscapes from unsustainable land uses.

This request for applications seeks to issue milestone-based grants to local organisations with a track record of successfully leading local communities through the development of evidence-based, participatory, and representative land use plans that are legally recognized, reflect the input of diverse voices from throughout the community, are socially credible and supported by the community, and that maximize opportunities for conservation, restoration, and sustainable management of natural resources. The objective is to improve the ability of local communities to plan and implement conservation and sustainable livelihoods activities in the areas under their jurisdiction.

We may engage multiple training providers through this request for applications.
